My Halloween Costume ft. Despicable Me

Hey cupcakes! Halloween is right around the corner! :D I am so so sooooo excited for Halloween, and I decided to not be a cat this year (GASP) like I have been for like the past five years. Instead I will be dressing up as:

That's right; Agnes from Despicable Me! <3 She is totally adorable and let's be honest, I really wanted to buy a pair of overalls ;) Here is what I will be wearing for this costume:

  • The overalls - DUH!
  • A yellow striped shirt (I ordered mine online)
  • Some Keds (she wears white ones but I only have black ones so they will have to do!)
  • A ponytail with a red scrunchie
  • A STUFFED UNICORN (I bought mine online a long time ago!!!!!)

Book Review: The Time Traveler's Wife

Hey cupcakes! With school being so busy (HELP IT'S MIDTERMS), I thought I would do a short book review today! I read The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger like a month ago (when school wasn't super crazy like it is now)...

Front cover of book showing young girl from the waist down in knee socks and Mary Janes and empty brown Oxfords next to her on a picnic blanket.

Here's what I thought:

OMG this book was an emotional roller coaster! I'm usually the kind of reader who doesn't put a book down until I finish it, but I was stupid enough to start it after dinner so it took me two days to read the whole thing (there's about 540 pages). I think this book is really well written! The perspective changes take a little bit of getting used to (because the main character time travels and there is some overlap between times), but by the half way point it is super easy to follow along with the plot. I think it is so interesting that Audrey chose this way to write the story, but it honestly fits so well with the book! :D

Now this book will give you major feels. Like MAJOR major feels! The plot twist literally made my jaw drop, and I yelled out loud a couple of times.... It was really really good!

Me reading this book ;)
The characters are very well developed and super relatable, as well as giving humanistic characteristics to the negatives of time traveling and the positive/negative aspects of falling in love. While some scenes are not appropriate for children (ex. some sex scenes), I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read! :)

I know there is a movie based on this book, but I have heard bad things about it.

SO, if you have seen the movie, read the book okay? I promise you will not be disappointed!!!!

What books have you been reading lately? Comment below and don't forget to follow! :D

Review: NeoCell Biotin Bursts

Hey cupcakes! I was recently approached by the company NeoCell about one of their products: Biotin Bursts (Gourmet Biotin Soft Chews). I was really excited about being contacted by them, because I had read an article on Marie Claire's website about the product and was super curious about them! After doing some research, I found out that these Biotin Bursts were named the beauty supplement of the year by New Beauty magazine! I knew I just had to review them for you all! <3

First off, the Biotoin Bursts contain 10,000 MCG of Biotin, which is used to support the metabolism in the proteins of your hair and skin. My skin is normally pretty dry, so I had high hopes that it would make my skin healthier! I decided to order the Acai Berry Biotin Bursts (there are also Fruit Punch and Chocolate Mint ones), and they were shipped to my dorm in like five days (super fast shipping!).
Packaging:

Nutrition facts:

What the bag looks like:

I was super duper pumped to start trying these out! On September 21st I tried my very first one, and I have been taking one every morning since! :)
What the chew looks like:

These chews actually taste really good! They have the same "chewiness" as Starbursts (a little bit more grainy), and the flavor is yummy and not too strong.

The results:
My skin has been less dry for sure! I haven't noticed any type of "energy" or "glow" in my skin in general, but it feels a lot more healthy instead of cracking all the time! I also noticed my hair getting healthier.... I tend to shed a lot, and now I don't notice my hair falling out as much! My hair also seems to not break as often, and I have noticed that I don't have as many split ends. I really love these Biotin Bursts!

I am so happy I tried out these chews, and I will most definitely be purchasing them again after my bag runs out! My skin and hair have never felt this happy, so I can't wait to see the long term effects! :) <3

What do you think about Biotin Bursts? Comment below and don't forget to follow!
*These Biotin Bursts were sent to me free of charge, but these are all my HONEST opinions :D *

Free Write #2: Most Irritating

Hey cupcakes! Last month I did my very first Free Write post on The Chic Cupcake (read about my first sexual experience HERE)! I really enjoyed doing that post, so I decided I would do another today! :D

If you are new to the "Free Write" concept, a free write is basically me writing a random post about a random topic (from this subject generator) in ten minutes without editing! Today's topic:

Write about someone who irritates you.

Alright well hurray this isn't about something as personal as my first sexual experience (thank god haha!)... Now as soon as I read this prompt, I knew exactly who I would talk about: one of my professors this semester. You probably thought I was going to talk about Trump or Hillary Clinton, but I don't want to talk about politics because, honestly, they both irritate me! :P Now I don't want to give out who this professor is or what class he teaches (for privacy sake), so let's refer to him as Mr. B. Now Mr. B teaches a class that I am pretty interested in. It consists of a 1 and a half hour lecture every week as well as another 1 and a half hour block for guest speakers. The topic is interesting, so I was excited to take this class.

Now the first time I saw Mr. B, my poor heart sank. Mr. B is intimidating; he is broadly build, has slicked back hair, is super arrogant, and barely ever smiles. He is one of those people who just acts like he is better than everyone (and I'm sure he's a nice guy and all)... For some reason, he irritates me more than anyone. The way he talks about himself and his experience at "law school" and his Linkedin connections and how we should be smarter than this and that, he makes me want to punch him in his face. Like I have literally thought about going to his office hours just to punch him.

My face about 90% of the class
More so, he reminds me of the old boyfriend I had in highschool whom you might remember from this post a while back (My Emotional Abuse Story). I am intimidated, annoyed, and brought back to a bad time in my life whenever I am in his presence, and it is just not a good feeling at all! His overall personality irritates me, and then I get even more irritated because I can't enjoy the subject matter as much as I would like. :/ I will definitely be happy when this class is over!

Well, my timer is about to run out, so I hope you enjoyed my little blurb about my irritating professor! :P

DIY: How to Make a Wand ft. Halloween

Hey cupcakes! Halloween is fast approaching, which means costume shopping and creating the perfect outfit for whatever activity you will be participating in on Halloween! :D I LOVE this holiday, so I wanted to do a DIY inspired by it... In this post, I will be showing you all how to make your very own wand that even Harry Potter himself would be jealous of! :P Let's get started!

What You Need
-Wooden dowel or chopstick
Image result for wooden dowel
Make sure they are pretty thin!
-Hot glue gun
-Ribbon, pipe cleaner, other various decorations
-Paint (any color!)
-Paintbrush
-Newspaper

Steps:
1. Lay out some newspaper on a flat surface (to make clean up super easy!).
2. Figure out exactly how you want to decorate your wand; there are tons of ideas online!
3. Use the hot glue to glue on decorations OR use the hot glue itself to make a design on the wooden stick. I like to add a layer of hot glue to the base of the wand, and when it is almost dry, squeeze it with my hand to imprint my handprint to the handle! :D

4. Put a blob of hot glue on the tip of the wand, and when it is almost dry, mold it into a point.

Before paint!
5. Paint the wand! I like a darker brown so everything is one uniform color. :)

6. If you want to add more decorations, feel free!
7. Ta-da! Your very own wand! :O

Honestly I think these wands are super easy to make, and they end up looking so much better and unique than the ones you can buy at the store! :)

My Current Makeup Wishlist!

Hey cupcakes! I feel like I haven't made a post about makeup in quite some time, so I thought I would talk about my current makeup/beauty product wishlist! :D I have been seeing some fantastic products on the market recently, so (of course being a broke college student) I haven't been able to purchase them all! Let's get right into it! <3

1. Clear lipstick with a flower inside (LINK) - So I've been seeing these basically everywhere lately, and I feel like it would be an interesting product to try! The actual lipstick changes colors according to your body temperature, and I am really curious to see if they actually work! :)

2. Foreo LUNA (LINK) - This skin cleansing tool looks like it works wonders, and I would love to give it a go! The Foreo brand also has a silicon tooth brush thing that looks really cool too! :P

3. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (LINK) - One of my favorite YouTubers (Piinksparkles) uses this eyeliner all the time, and it looks amazing! The line is super thin and defined, so I need to get my hands on this ASAP!
4. Dr. Brandt Magnetight Face Mask (LINK) - So this face mask literally gets taken off your face with a magnet.... :O It looks so so SO cool! I really want to try it! Plus, I totally recommend watching people do this on YouTube... It is super funny!
5. e.l.f Color Correcting Concealor Sticks (LINK) - I love my e.l.f. concealor palette, so I want to try the individual sticks of color concealors they just came out with! :) I'm sure they work great!

6. Bath and Body Works Pumpkin Body Wash (LINK) - I haven't been to Bath and Body Works in a long long time (crazy right?!), so I want to try one of their new Pumpkin fall scents! YUM!

How to Style Pink ft. Breast Cancer

Hey cupcakes! October is Breast Cancer awareness month! <3 Supporting Breast Cancer (and all other cancers) is an amazing and worthy cause, so I thought I would make a fashion post inspired by October's color: PINK!

If you want to support this worthy cause by wearing pink, you don't have to wear an outfit totally of pink (I mean, if you want to go for it!)... Instead, there are so many amazing ways to throw in pops of pink!

Outfit 1: This outfit is super duper cute! I love the hot pink skirt, and I paired it with a simple white v neck tee. Paired with some ankle boots and chokers for the fall, and you are all set to go! :)

Outfit 2: If you have a spring/summer pink top, this look is for you! To make your blouse "work" in the falltime, pair it with a bomber jacket and some skinny jeans! I also paired it with some pink Converse ;)

Outfit 3: This outfit is for a casual day! Floral leggings and a baggy sweatshirt (it could even be from PINK... haha see what I did there?) will support breast cancer and allow you to be comfy all day!

My challenge: Paint your nails pink for the month of October and try to wear pink at least once!!!!! If someone comments on your outfit or nails, let them know what cause you are supporting! :D

How do you style pink? Comment below and don't forget to follow! :D

Recipe: Microwave Caramel Popcorn

Hey cupcakes! Are you hungry?! (Lol - I am always hungry!) Today I wanted to share an easy caramel popcorn recipe that only requires a microwave!

Image result for caramel popcorn

I found this lovely recipe on Your Cup of Cake, and I hope you try it out!

What You Need
-  2 microwave bags of popcorn (or 12 C popped popcorn from 1/2 unpopped kernels)
- 1 C brown sugar
- 1/4 C white Karo syrup
- 1/2 C butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt (omit if you used microwave popcorn!)
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda

What To Do
1. Pop your bags of popcorn or unpopped kernels and place into a large bowl

2. Place brown sugar, Karo syrup, butter, and salt into a microwave safe bowl (make sure this bowl will allow the mixture to triple in size!!)

3. Microwave for 45 seconds, remove and stir.

Easy Caramel Corn in the Microwave! It's the soft kind, my favorite!

4. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds, remove and stir.

5. Add vanilla extract and baking soda and stir until it stops fizzing.

6. Pour over popcorn and gently fold together until all the popcorn is coated!
